If I've noticed one thing all traders have in common, it's that they love to talk about trading, and I am certainly no exception to the rule. Maybe itís because trading is, for most of us, quite a lonely activity. Or perhaps it is because the majority of those around us don't really understand exactly what it is we actually do. Whatever the reason, I am delighted to have the opportunity to talk about trading here on Trading Simulation in this new "Trading Life" column.
But before we get down to trading talk, please allow me to introduce myself properly. My name is Harvey Walsh, and I am, of course, a trader. To be more precise, I am a day trader. I have been earning a full time living from the markets for more years than I care to think about (not because I haven't enjoyed those years, just because it makes me feel old to think about how many of them there have been). My preferred market is the Nasdaq, and through this column Iíll explain why I think itís one of the greatest markets to trade. I also dabble in futures, and run some forex positions.
How did I wind up writing on this site? Well I've been using TSim+ since about version 2 when stock trading was added, and have followed it's development since then. It is unusual in the trading world to find something useful that is also free, and I admire Henry for his tireless efforts in making his platform available to anyone who wants it; I know that running a website and supporting a product can be a full time job in itself. When he told me he was expanding his site further and asked if I could contribute anything, I thought what a wonderful opportunity to repay some of that generosity Ė and best of all I get to talk about trading!
Harvey can be contacted via his website, where you can also read about his day trading course
